- Waimarang Waterfall. Waimarang, also known as La Winnu Waterfall, is located in Waimarang Village, Umalulu District, East Sumba Regency. On one side of the waterfall, you can also find a higher surface. Next to it, there is also a smaller pool that is equally refreshing. The long journey requires you to bring your own food, spare clothes, and drinks when visiting this waterfall area. It was discovered by a 13-year-old boy named Erikson Hapu Hamapinda Kamanula in 2015. Although the facilities around the waterfall are still simple, the natural beauty, clear pools, and peaceful atmosphere far from the crowds make it a unique destination.
Lapopu Waterfall. Lapopu Waterfall is located in the Manupeu Tanah Daru & Laiwangi Wanggameti National Park (MaTaLaWa), precisely in Hatikuloku Village, Wanokaka District, West Sumba. It is famous as a multi-level waterfall with a height of about 90–92 meters, making it the highest on Sumba Island and NTT. Although facilities are still limited, there are amenities such as toilets and changing rooms at the national park ranger station. The charm of Lapopu Waterfall lies in its crystal-clear water, which has a greenish-blue or turquoise hue. The waterfall also serves as a water source for the local community and has potential as a micro-hydroelectric power plant.
Wee Kacura Waterfall. This waterfall is located in Tema Tana Village, East Wewewa District, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). It is famous for its unique location in the middle of terraced green rice fields and clear water, offering a peaceful and natural atmosphere with natural pools for bathing. To reach it, visitors typically take a light trek through the rice fields from the main road, with a travel time of approximately one hour from Waikabubak City. You can enjoy quality time with family or friends by swimming, taking photos with the stunning waterfall backdrop and green rice fields, and it’s also the perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise there.
Lokomboro Waterfall. Lokomboro Waterfall is located in Lokomboro Village, East Wejewa District, Southwest Sumba Regency. Although not as famous as other tourist attractions, this waterfall offers equally stunning beauty and is a hidden paradise for nature lovers. It is located in the middle of a lush forest, surrounded by shady trees and soothing green scenery. The waterfall stands approximately 30 meters tall, with water cascading forcefully from towering rock cliffs. It is the confluence of two rivers, and many locals come here to swim and play in the water. Near the waterfall, there is also a micro-hydro power plant, whose energy source also comes from the river where the waterfall is located.
Tanggedu Waterfall. This waterfall is located in Tanggedu Village, Kanatang District, East Sumba Regency. It is nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Indonesia because of its clear water flowing from rocky cliffs into natural blue-green pools below. Swimming here will give you a feeling of freshness and tranquility. This waterfall is one of the natural attractions located about 46 kilometers north of Waingapu City. Tanggedu Waterfall is characterized by its unique rock relief.
